About this object

A portrait of Winston Churchill seated at a table with letters and documents. The background is dark, but the corner of the room can be seen to the right, and the bottom of a painting can be seen at the top. Churchill sits, facing forward, in a half length portrait. He is sitting in a heavy chair with carved posts extending from the chair back behind him. His right hand holds his eye glasses, and his left rests on the arm of the chair. On the table are papers, and books. He is wearing a siren suit (one-piece garment) which has a zipper down the front.
