About this object

At the center of the icon is the Resurrection, painted in a miniature style with flame-shaped mountains and an almond-shaped mandorla with chrysography rays and stars. A gold border with inscription "The Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" separates it from the twelve smaller scenes that surround it. They depict (clockwise from top left) the Nativity of the Mother of God, the Presentation in the Temple, the Annunciation, the Nativity of Christ, the Baptism of Christ, the Transfiguration, the Exaltation of the Cross, the Dormition, the Old Testament Trinity, the Assumption, the Entry into Jerusalem, and the Purification. In the center of the upper polia, hidden by the oklad, is the New Testament Trinity within a pink semicircular mandorla. Each scene is identified by a black inscription on the ochre polia. The board is not carved but a coral red border with ornament in chrysography separates the kovcheg from the polia with its double red and green filenka. The border is covered by a silver gilt basma oklad with the inscription "The Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ" chased on a plaque in the middle upper border. The oklad is chased with a repeat pattern of crosses and rosettes. A rinceau of raised rosettes with a reeded outer edge and beaded inner edge marks the filenka. The back has two transverse shponki.
