About this object

Portrait of a young woman standing three quarter length. She is facing three quarter to the left. She is wearing a 17th century Dutch costume. It has a lace cap that tucks behind her ears and has a scalloped edge. The cuffs are large and scalloped. There is a very large flat white ruff around her neck. She wears a necklace of red beads and a bracelet on her left wrist. Her right hand holds a feather at her side. Her left arm is bent across her front. Her dress is dark blue with a trefoil pattern in a lighter blue. The front of her dress bulges outward and there is a blue bow at her waist. There is a plain brown background with a drape indicated at the left.
