About this object
Portrait is of a dark haired woman seen in half length, facing forward. She is wearing a purplish dress which is gathered in large folds across her bust. Over it she wears a lace collar which has rectangular corners that cover the top edge of the dress. The lace is edged in scallops and has a floral design. She wears a cape which can be seen over her shoulders and at the sides of her dress. The dress has a belt with a brass buckle. Her hands are folded in front of her and are cut off by the frame. She has lace at her cuffs. She has dark, curly hair which can be seen under her lace cap. The lace edging circles her face with a scalloped edge. The hat is surrounded by a flowered material band.
