About this object

A portrait of Grand Duke Alexander Nikolayevich (future Emperor Alexander II), bust length and his head turned to the right. He is dressed in a dark blue regimental uniform with a high gold collar and large gold epaulettes. He is wearing a blue sash of the Imperial Order of St. Catherine across the uniform. There are the badges of five orders pinned below his collar and two stars of orders on his right chest. His hair is cut short and he has a long handlebar moustache. The original gold frame has the imperial crown at the top.
