About this object
A landscape with figures. A the left in the foreground is a large tree, broken off at the top, with two short broken branches. Underneath is a young man wearing a hat, a red jacket, a white shirt and short tan pants, who is reclining at its base. He is barefoot, holds a scythe in his right hand and a large jug in his left hand. He is apparently asleep, shaded by a bush behind him. At the right is a small stand of three trees. In the mid-distance is a field of grain to the right and three small figures in the center, one scything, another tying sheaves and a third bending over to cut the grain. There is a winding river and and a faint mountain in the distance. There are white clouds in a pale blue sky and a few flying birds.
