About this object

The subject is a portrait of a woman in half length, facing three quarters to the left. Her hair is light brown with large curls on either side of her head. She wears a black hat, decorated with ribbons, perched on the back of her head. She wears a white dress with a rounded neckline and puffed short sleeves. A long blue scarf drapes over her right shoulder, across her back and onto her left arm. She wears an ornate belt at her waistline. In the right background is a red curtain pulled back with a cord. At the left is a distant landscape, framed by a stone ledge at bottom and a column at right.
