About this object

The subject is a three-quarter length portrait of a seated, dark haired woman. She is facing forward with her head turned slightly to the right. She wears an elaborate white dress edged in lace. It has billowing, half-length sleeves with large bows attached. The waist is tight and the skirt billows out. She also wears gold jewelry. There is a bracelet on her left wrist, an elaborate necklace around her neck which draped over her bodice, a band in her hair and large drop earrings. There is a red cushion decorated with tassels to the left on which she leans with her right arm. There is a red curtain to the right behind a half of a large vase filled with flowers. To the left is another drape and some greenery.
