A scene in the highlands. There are many sheep standing and lying down on a high cliff, three in the front of the painting, and several more in the distance. At the center of the painting are two goats, sitting onthe edge of the cliff. There are also two dogs, one black, and the other grey and white. They watch over the herd of sheep at the right. In the foreground near the black dog lies a red cloak, bottle and crook. The other dog is standing and looks over a ravine at the right to a distant mountain. The sky is pale blue.
