About this object

On a stone ledge there is a still life of fruit, purple and white grapes with leaves, pears, red and white currants and plums in a basket. Below, on the ledge, are a pineapple, grapes, apples, raspberries, half an orange, a melon, potatoes and a bird's nest with eggs. Spilling out of the basket is a white cloth which lies on top of the ledge and upon which rests some of the fruit. There is a reddish wool fringed carpet underneath the basket and fruit, showing at the lower right side of the painting. In the right background is a wall, and to the left is open sky with clouds above a mountain range.
