About this object

The portrait is of a middle aged man with full coloring and a grey wig seated, facing almost forward while looking to the left and seen in more than three quarters. He wears plum colored waistcoat, jacket and short pants trimmed in gold and with gold buttons. He has a white lace jabot and cuffs and white stockings. His chair is covered in red velvet and the table on which his left hand rests is covered with the same material. His right hand holds a quill pen and rest in his lap. On the table are writing instruments, paper and books. In the right background is a plain column. Portrait to be said of Alderman Boydell, or the Duke of Norfolk.
