About this object
Town scene in winter and is in front of the Church of St. Basil's in Moscow, an imaginary one in the days of the Boyars. Snow is everywhere. Boyars are arriving in sleighs, each drawn by one horse with one driver and with a box like section for the Boyar family. Boyars and families are going to church in their rich, furlined coats. Sitting in the snow are a number of beggars each with a copper tray in front to catch pennies.
