About this object

A portrait of Marjorie Merriweather Post seated full length facing to the left, her face turned full front. Her right arm is curved around her daughter Nedenia Hutton (Dina Merrill) as a small girl. She is seated at the left and holds her mother's left hand in her mother's lap. She leans against her mother with her legs on the seat next to her. Post's brown hair has a frosted streak and is curled in tight waves. She is wearing a long three strand pearl necklace, an emerald and diamond shoulder brooch, an emerald bracelet, a ring, a sleeveless low cut white satin dress with a floor length panel at back lined in green, white stockings, and white satin high heeled shoes. Nedenia wears a yellow bow in her blonde hair and a short yellow dress with a white lace collar and hem. In the background is a deep yellow drapery pulled back on the left. They are seated on a green velvet throw edged in thick white fur.
