About this object

The Merriweather coat of arms. Within a painted oval is the Merriweather shield in a fanciful setting with six winged putti on a blue background surrounding it. There is a gold rayed sun at the top and a banderole at bottom with the words VIET CONSILIO. The putti are carrying leaves, flowers, a book and other natural objects. On top of the shield is a helmet with an arm of mail coming out of the top holding a staff. Within the shield is a rayed sun (upper left), three blackbirds flying to the left (lower left), two lions rampant facing to the left (upper right) and one lion rampant facing to the left (lower right). Below the shield on a brown ground is the word MERRIWEATHER.
