About this object

Portrait of Catherine II half-length and facing to the left. She has an elaborate cleft crown set with diamonds and pearls and lined with red. Her hair is grey and curiously wooden, like curls hang over her shoulders. Her dress is pale blue trimmed with lace and her red mantle is lined with ermine. She has the blue sash of the Imperial Order of St. Catherine and the diamond studded chain and badge of the Imperial Order of St. Andrew First Called.
