There is a chair with a drape over it next to the cane. He is wearing a black suit, with a dotted bow tie, and with a watch chain slung across his vest. He has eyeglasses in his left vest pocket, and a handkerchief in left coat pocket. The background is dark grey. The expression on his face is a scowl. Copy of photograph taken by Yousuf Karsh of Ottawa in 1941.
