About this object

Asymmetrical, bias cut evening gown of copper colored satin. Garment has one large pleated, puffed sleeve and a 1" transparent shoulder strap on right to which a tulle panel is attached and allowed to hang free down back of garment. The asymmetrical, cuffed collar is narrow at left, widening to 3" at right where it fastens with metal hooks and bars. The dress is constructed of straight grain strips sewn together on the bias to give shape and form to the gown. These strips increase in width toward the base of the skirt, creating the bell shape at hem. The skirt has a slight asymmetrical train. Box pleated silk crêpe trims the hem of the gown. Garment closes on the right side with a metal zipper. Because there is no lining or understructure, the garment has stretched out of shape.
