About this object

This cream and cobalt blue sleeveless evening gown combines the dropped waist of the late twenties with the asymmetrical, bias cutting of the thirties. The cream satin bodice is cut in a low V at back, where the fabric is gathered and shirred, closing with a series of metal hooks and fabric loops. Bodice ends in a low point at center back. The asymmetrical skirt is knee length in front, extending to a long, pointed train at back. A metal loop at the point of the train allows it to be fastened to a hook at back waist. This hook is concealed by a flat, single bow of cream colored satin with a long, two-toned tie. The skirt is lined to the knee with blue organza.
