About this object

Sleeveless dress in pale ochre colored silk taffeta with V-neckline in front and scoop neck in back. Bodice closes at center front under a decorative band of rhinestones and bugle beads. Same banding is applied at dropped waist on front only. The skirt is gathered around body and heavily smocked at center front. Pastel patches of pink, peach and green geometric shapes are applied flat and edged in slate colored bugle beads sewn on a diagonal. Interspersed bands of flat sewn rhinestones and silver bugle beads add to the overall geometric design. The dress is worn with a matching circular cape with a shaped, gathered collar. Open arm holes are covered on the exterior by a gathered panel decorated with the same geometric patches and rhinestone bands. The garment would have been worn with a matching undergarment similar to 48.60.3.
