About this object

Sleeveless summer day dress with a modified scoop neck ending in a slight V-shape. The neckline and armholes are faced with orange broadcloth that is slightly visible at the edges. The bodice is embroidered with brightly colored cotton thread depicting Haitian figures, a donkey, palm trees and huts. A pleated skirt with a flat front is attached at the natural waistline. The hem and the left side of the skirt are embroidered with similar scenes, including a cock fight at center front. A long, 1-1/4" wide orange belt is tied at the right.
