About this object

This short sleeved day dress and matching jacket are constructed in a printed silk faille with a gray and white geometric pattern on a yellow ground. The dress is cut in a modified princess line, shaped with a horizontal tuck across the center front at waist. The neck is trimmed with a 1-1/2" wide band of self fabric edged with cream colored faille ribbon that is applied flat and turned at a 45 degree angle to create a square neckline. The sleeves are cut with a center seam ending in an open slit that is trimmed with faille ribbon and turned back to create a small placket. Larger turned back plackets embelish the skirt at each of the princess line seams, openning to reveal an inset panel of self fabric. The skirt is backed with cotton linen and organza for stiffening, and the entire garment is lined with silk. A nylon zipper fastens the dress at center back. A covered belt is edged at center front with faille ribbon and closes at center front with metal hooks and loops. The jacket has three quarter length sleeves ending with a single, turned back placet edged with faille ribbon. A rolled collar with extended points is trimmed with a band of self fabric edged with faille ribbon. The jacket closes at center front with an interior covered button and self fabric loop. The jacket is lined with the same printed fabric.
