About this object

This day dress of green wool crêpe is accented by a cream colored silk yoke. The yoke is cut in one with the short sleeves, with the shoulder seam ending in an open slit at sleeve hem. A single, 1-1/2" covered halo button and bound buttonhole decorate the left side at the join between the yoke and bodice. An A-line skirt is attached at the natural waistline, where a fabric covered belt with a small flat bow is worn. The skirt is fitted at the waist with four small darts in each side front. The garment closes off center in back with a concealed metal zipper. A double inverted kick pleat begins at the end of the zipper, where a covered button and bound buttonhole are placed. The bodice is lined with cream and green silk; the skirt is lined with acetate. A cream colored, short jacket with elbow length sleeves is trimmed at sleeves and hem with 3" bands of green crêpe. A flat, notched collar closes at center front with two covered buttons and bound buttonholes. The jacket is fully lined with cream colored silk-acetate. The suit includes a bag containing three extra buttons covered in the green crêpe, so that the cream colored button on the bodice and two on the jacket could be changed for a different look.
