About this object

Full length, coat-style dress in bright pink silk satin with a floral pattern in flocked velvet. The bodice crosses left over right and is secured by a series of metal hooks and snaps, concealing a metal zipper. The bodice is shaped by a decorative pleat on each side extending diagonally from bust to waist. The back bodice is cut in a princess line. Full, pleated sleeves are attached at the extended shoulder and hang to elbow. The bodice is fully lined in pale pink taffeta. The full skirt consists of eight shaped gores with seven godets beginning at the hip level. The skirt is supported by an attached petticoat in pale pink taffeta constructed from a gathered and pleated band attached to a shaped yoke, with a band of open weave nylon net at hem for stiffening. The garment is worn with a shaped belt. Both belt and buckle are covered in matching fabric and backed with leather.
