About this object

Sleeveless cocktail dress with a sweetheart neckline. Bodice is constructed on a boned, lavender taffeta base with an overlay of white corded laced decorated with irridescent white sequins. A blue velvet bow with ribbon ties placed at the center front edge of bodice. A small flower of pleated pink organza is placed above the bow. Two velvet streamers, beginning beneath the bow, are applied flat and continue under the bust and around to center back waist where a second bow with four freehanging streamers is attached. The skirt is composed of multiple layers of tulle and net. The outermost layer is white net decorated with seven vertical appliques of corded lace and sequins. The second layer is pale lavender tulle, followed by a dark lavender tulle layer. The fourth layer is white net. The skirt is lined with lavender taffeta file stiffened with a narrow band of horsehair at the hem. 14" pleated hip panels of felted paper are attached to the lining at each side. The garment closes with a metal zipper at center back.
