About this object

Dinner set of 36 mats and 36 napkins. The mats are rectangular in a cream color. The outer edge has a series of loops. Inside the edge is an elaborate design of birds, flowers and scrolls in an interconnected design that is mirrored on the two halves of the mat. In the upper center is a human figure who sits with crossed legs, holds up his two arms, and wears a pointed hat. MLK#9 Placemats: all bobbin lace in Milan-type curving tapes with some Cantu-type curls. Symmetrical design to center axis with Renaissance-style mermaid at top, plant form below, birds in flight with raised wing feather, flowers, scrolls and leaves.
