About this object

A light blue silk taffeta bedspread with an overlay of silk mesh with lace appliques. The center area of the spread has an ecru silk lace overlay design in large rectangles that are framed by bobbin and needle lace motifs. Separating the rectangles vertically are lily of the valley appliques on white silk. The design within the rectangles is of needle and bobbin lace sprays of flowers appliqued on the silk machine made mesh. At the bottom of each rectangle is a bow created by two flowers and a row of leaves. The top of the spread has a double row of lily of the valley flowers. The bottom of the spread has a plain 7 inch mesh ending with a row of lily of the valley appliques. There is a 15 inch ruffle on both sides of the spread that has an ecru silk mesh with white appliques of bobbin lace flower sprays that run perpendicular to the center of the spread. This design runs almost to the end of the spread changing to a striped mesh design 21 inches from the end. At the bottom of the spread is an opening for the bed post.
