About this object

A set of table linens including 30 mats, 30 napkins, 30 doilies/coasters and 2 runners. The primary design is the Belgian coat of arms. The runners are rectangular with a lace border and a series of rectangles and triangles running down the center, decorated with different motifs. At each end is the coat of arms. The runner is composed of a central design of Belgian provinces that are between two end rectangles of Belgian Venise needle lace with a Belgian coat of arms backed with a grid of button holed bars. The date 1914 is on the left of the coat of arms and 1915 is on the right. The edging is bobbin lace with a design of flowers and stylized leaves.
