The runner is composed of a central design of Belgian provinces that are between two end rectangles of Belgian Venise needle lace with a Belgian coat of arms backed with a grid of buttonholed bars. The date 1914 is on the left of the coat of arms and 1915 is on the right. The edging is bobbin lace with a design of flowers and stylized leaves.
