About this object

A set of pink cotton terry cloth towels and washcloths. The terry cloth has a vertical strip effect weave. Horizonatlly there is 4 inches from the bottom of the towel a tabby weave strip of gold threads. One inch above this strip is a large machine embroidered monogram MMP. The MM's are in a satin or laid machine stitch and the P is in a loop stitch. The matching washcloths have the same stripped terry cloth and horizontal gold tabby strip, but no monogram.

label WAMSUTTA/TRADE MARK/MADE IN U.S.A. Bottom corner of the towels This is a white cloth label. The inscription is woven in green. Five of the towels have this label and three of the washcloths. There is evidence they all had the label, but with wear it has been torn off.. label LE'RON/FIFTH AVENUE/NEW YORK On the bottom corner of the towels This inscription is only on the towels. Because of wear one of the towels is missing this label. The washcloths do not have this label and it appears they never did which indicates the embroidery was done at Le'ron. monogram MMP Center bottom of the towels This is embroidered in pink and is only on the towels.
