About this object

This is a white linen sheet half composed of whitework embroidery, cutwork, openwork and needle lace. Five inches from the hem is a row of openwork isolated overcast bars. Three inches above this is openwork of double groups knotted together with a knot stitch. Three inches above this is openwork of eyelet and bar overcast stitches. At each corner of this row of openwork is whitework embroidery with needle lace motifs of flowers and diamond needleweaving. In the center of the sheet above the last openwork design is a spray of flowers in whitework embroidery with a circle motif of needle lace. Below this center motif close to the hem is an embroidered monogram MPD. At the torn end of the sheet in the center are two square motifs with needle lace.
