About this object

Two cream machine lace edgings with attached peach silk fabric from the garment from which they were cut. The design is of a large flower alternating with a small flower set on mesh. All the design elements are outlined with a cordonnet. The flowers occasionally dip down into the peach fabric, some surrounded by it and at other times the lace flowers are stitched to the top of the fabric. 45.550.1 has two circles of lace that may have been for armholes. 45.550.2 was probably attached to the bottom of the garment at the hem. The edge that is free of the fabric is slightly scalloped.
