About this object

A set of three cream edgings. These are machine Lille type bobbin lace and were cut from a garment. The design is of a cluster of three roses on a mesh background. All areas of the edging are outlined with a cordonnet. These edgings were probably on a pettipant garment or on very wide sleeves of a negligee as the edging rises from the border in a rectangle at various places all around the edging. There is one area of the edgings that are straight across with no rectangles and seams at both ends. The attachment edge has a gold silk thread sewn to a light blue or white silk that has been cut. The lower edge is lightly scalloped and is made up of small flowers. The inner dimension is too small to have had the edging on a slip. 45.549.1 is larger that 45.549.2-3. The rectangulars are wider.
