About this object

An ecru edging of Valenciennes bobbin lace. There are also three smaller scraps of this same edging. Of the largest (45.420.1) 3 1/2 inches of the edging at the top is in a scrolling pattern of stems and roses. Beneath this is a design strip of diamond lozenges. Within the large diamonds is a flower. The border has sprays os leaves at an irregular edge. MLK suggests this may have been used on a nightgown or slip.
