Piece of Gros Point de Venise flounce sewn on dark blue velvet. The lace is executed in high relief in a floral, scrolling design. The object has a carbon typed label from Marian Powys that reads,'Ialian: Gros Point de Venise: 17th Century: Part of a Flounce or Volant: sometimes called "Punto Tagliato a Foliami" because of the high relief. A splendid scroll with conventional flowers and bides picotees. ground. The number 11 is at the top indicating this was from an auction lot.
