About this object

An ecru colored rec tangular tablecloth with a rounded and scalloped edge. It is made of dense needle lace and Italian Venise. The overall design is of stylized flowers, leaves, swags and other natural forms. Within the edge is a border of swags with a pattern of heart shapes. Towards the center of the cloth is a rectangular inset of lace with more floral shapes and a fine net background. This type of inset is also in an oval form in the center of the cloth. This lace is Burano needle lace floral with Burano square mesh ground. The main ground is bars. There are raised couronnes of needle loop picots and rings. (Catalog label reads 45.14)
