A bright orange silk backing with 3 pieces of lace attached. .1 is a 17th century Venetian needle lace edging with insertions from altar frontal. Gros point de Venise type with a raised and padded outline and large scale motifs. Some cut down with most bars original with horseshoe sauve point loops more on high relief on long edge for visibility. .2 is a small Venetian altar lace insertion with added picot at the inner edge and fine Venise in low relief with small scale and fine raised work and many picots and loops at the bar intersections. .3 is a Venetian needle lace edging with a cut straight edge and very fine close work with many raised picots in low relief and with a symmetrical design and varied fillings. It has an added engrelure and original picot edge. 17th century.
