18 lace samples on a green silk panel with gros-grain ribbon at the top of the panel. Descriptions, in quotes, next to each sample, on small architect's linen labels in ink. .1 is a 17th century very fine Binche bobbin lace edging. It has a straight foot and head with a 3/8 inch bobbin egrelure (attachment). The pattern repeats ever every 4 1/4 inches. There is a snow ground. .2 has no label and is a Flanders edging with a gentle scallop head, with no engrelure. The pattern repeat is 4 5/8 inches. The design is of a crude floral and scroll design. .3 is a Binche bobbin lace leaf and flower design with straight edges. The design repeat is every 4 3/4 inches. .4 a fine 18th century Binche bobbin lace edging. This is coarser than .3. The design is of leaves and flowers and repeats every 4 inches. The edges are straight and there are various fillings. .5 is a fine 17th century Binch bobbin lace edging with a design of feather scrolls on a very fine snow ground. .6 is a very fine 17th century Binche bobbin lace edging with a design of stylized leaves. The repeat is every 3 3/4 inches in a candelabra style. .7 is a 17th century Binche bobbin lace edging with a design of elaborate trailing leaves and straight edges. The design repeat is ever 4 1/4 inches. .8 has no label. It is a very fine Flanders lace in a floral design. The floral design is incomplete. .9 has no label. It isa coarse Binche edging of a simple floral design with a snow ground. The pattern repeat is every 2 7/8 inches. .10 is an 18th century Candelabra Binche bobbin lace with a pattern of leaves. The edges are straight with a 3/8 inch engrelure. .11 is an 18th century Binche bobbin lace edging. The pattern is of a flower and leaf with a partridge-eye ground and repeats every 4 1/4 inches. The edge is straight with a 3/8 inch engrelure. .12 is a 17th century Flemish edging that is crudely worked. The repeat is every 4 inches.
