About this object

At the neck in front there are wheat sheaves and grape vines embroidered in gold and silver threads within an appliqued band woven of gold and silver threads. The same band is sewn to the sleeves and near the hem and on the back. Scattered at regular intervals over the rest of the robe are embroidered eight petaled rosettes. On the back near the neck are the same wheat sheaves and grape vines as in the center, a laurel wreath surrounding the initials XC. Below the band is an embossed cross with four equal arms and rays between. The robe is open at the sides and secured by metal buttons and loops. Back is stiffened and whole robe is lined with linen.
