About this object

The background is red velvet with silver gilt fringe and tassels. In the center is a cross embroidered in stumpwork, gold thread of two colors and sequins. In each of the outer corners is a cherubim, the face painted realistically on cloth, the wings embroidered in gold. On each of the four sides are embroidered in several colored gold threads two clusters of grapes with leaves and ears of wheat on stalks signifying the wine and bread used in Mass.
