About this object

The needlework is worked in coarse threads. The three-masted frigate has the threads running vertically for the sails which are caught at the top and bottom. The ship is in full sail and faces to the left. At the back of the boat flies the Union Jack and another flag is on top of the mast. In the foreground the water is represented as a striped effect of dark blue and white. The rest of the sea appears green. Abive the sea is the sky which is partly blue with clouds and partly beige. To the right is a lighthouse on a rock and to the left is another rock or piece of land. The antique wooden frame is painted black around the inside.
