About this object

Set of 2. The entire surface is embroidered in satinstitch in orange-red silk, with the central medallion and four crosses worked in white. The central cross is outlined in gold with silver scrolls along each arm and scattered seed pearls. The words "Holy Holy Holy Holy" are embroidered in a circle around the perimeter of the central cross. The medallion is bordered by alternating semi-precious cabochons encircled with pearls. On each arm of the cloth is a white Maltese cross with a seed pearl at each tip, within a border of undulating foliage with seed pearl blossoms. Above each cross is a crown worked in silver and gold threads, two crowns being the split Russian crown, the other two Maltese(?) crowns. A gold brocade border finishes the outer edge of the cloth and a gold fringe is sewn to each arm. The back is lined with white silk.
