About this object

The oblong box is long and rounded at each end. In the center of the cover is a monogram made in very small diamonds against a hair background. This is framed in gold and enamel, first with a circle of white dots simulating pearls and then a blue band. The edges and hinge are made in gold which is delicately engraved with formal patterns. The interior is lined with red velvet. The thumbpiece is a small gold button.
