About this object

The frame has a border of leaf scrolls which are carved in high relief. There are two on each side, each on a separate applied plaque. There are two together at the top and bottom, with a quatrefoil on each corner. It contains a miniature reproduction of a galant scene in an interior with a man and a woman in 18th century dress in the style of Boucher. The man is seated in large blue easy chair, and the woman is standing. There is a low screen with a figure of a Chinaman in the room. It is backed in green silk brocade.
