About this object

The frame is made from tortoise shell which is mottled brown in color. At the edge are brass nail heads which are flush with the surface. Next is a band of scratched diagonal lines, then a deep slanting indentation with swags. The scene has a narrow reeded metal inner frame which holds a piece of glass. Underneath this is a miniature scene of a man, three women and sheep in a landscape next to a stream. In the distance is a piece of architecture with two putti on top.
