About this object

The bone frame is engraved with a formal design which is partly darkened. The deisgn is a series of ovals connected with bowknots. At each corner is set a small piece of mother of pearl. The frame encloses a piece of wood set in which are two miniatures in gilt metal frames. Between them is a spray of flowers carved in bone. Both miniatures are bust sized and depict a man and his wife, facing each other. The man is on the right side and wears a grey wig, white stock and blue coat. The woman is on the left side and has grey hair, a white cap with blue ribbons and a blue dress.
