About this object

The silhouette of the scabbard is slightly curved. The ends are rounded and tipped with silvered copper incised with a pattern of flower and leaf sprays. On each side is a gilt leaf and flower spray which is slightly raised. The handle is covered with off-white pebbling and on each side is an applied leaf motif in gilt metal. There is a purple silk braided cord ending in tassels which is tied to an oval ring on the scabbard.
