About this object

The tea caddy is oval in shape with a domed cover. The base is rectangular with incurving sides that rise to form a knop that supports the caddy. The work box and cover are made in several types of woods, each separated by vertical inlaid bands. The base is also made from several kinds of wood with inlaid bands. Around the edge of the cover and the base are strips of dark wood inlaid with a zig-zag design made from lighter wood. Inside are several openings for tea, two with oval covers, each with a marquetry floral design. The knob is an ivory flower basket.
