About this object

The table is rectangular in shape. On the top is an elaborate romantic scene in marquetry of buildings in a landscape. In the distance on a hill is a fortified castle, with five flying birds in the sky. At the left is a building with peaked roofs, a round tower and windows represented in mother of pearl. There is a haywagon and haystacks in the center. At the right is a crenelated tower and arch with ruined classical columns, and cows in the left foreground. All are set within a marquetry frame of vine scrolls. There is one drawer at the right end and stands on square straight tapered legs.
