About this object

The top and two ends of the commode have similar designs consisting of a central round or oval medallion with sprays of flowers and flying birds. At either side of the medallions are branches with leaves and flowers. The four drawers on the front have similar designs with a brass handle in the center. At each side of the drawers is an oval medallion with a bird or butterfly in marquetry and long sprays of leaves and flowers. The top and four drawers are outlined with ribbed brass strips. The front of the commode is serpentine in design. The four feet are made from dark wood. The sides of the feet are graduated.
