About this object
The night stand has four legs and a square shape. The top is a piece of pinkish gray mottled marble made to slide into a slot. The front has a rectangular opening at the top. At the top of the other sides is a wide upper border in marquetry of an interlace with formal leaf motifs. On the lower half of the front are two doors with a decoration consisting of a large central pointed oval with a rosette of acanthus leaves surrounded by an acanthus vine. The outer border is an acanthus scroll. The other three sides have the same general motifs, with the patterns on the two ends being smaller and with a round ormolu handle in the center of each. There are interlaces down all the corners. The rectangular tapering legs have a leaf motif suspended from a bowknot all in marquetry and ending in ormolu feet with acanthus leaves.
